Process Lead Trainer/Assessor

Engr. David Abaidoo is a seasoned Mechanical Engineer and Lecturer at Takoradi Technical University, with extensive expertise in Process Engineering, Mechanical Systems, and Renewable Energy Technologies. With over 15 years of progressive experience in academia, technical training, and industrial practice, he has played a pivotal role in advancing Ghana’s engineering capacity—particularly in the oil and gas sector.

He holds an MSc. in Renewable Energy Technologies, a BSc. in Mechanical Engineering from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), and an HND in Mechanical Engineering (Auto Option) from Cape Coast Polytechnic. His strong academic background is reinforced by professional certifications that highlight his competence in oil and gas operations, safety, and vocational training. These include:

  • PAA/VQ–SET Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement (QCF)
    • PAA/VQ–SET Level 2 Diploma in Performing Process Operations (NVQ) in Chemical Processing
    • NEBOSH Level 2 Certification (Occupational Safety & Health)
    • PTTLS Course (UK) – Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector
    • Specialized training in Mechanical Drives, Process Control, CNC, Thermal Control, and Fluid Power Systems

    At the Jubilee Technical Training Centre (JTTC), Engr. Abaidoo has excelled as a Process Engineer, Trainer and Assessor as well, delivering hands-on and competency-based training on critical oil and gas process systems, including 3-phase separators, Water Treatment Plants, Pumps, Valves, and health and safety systems. He is skilled in facility commissioning, start-up and shutdown operations, Process Flow Diagram (PFD) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) interpretation, Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems, and competency assessment of trainees. Through his training, he has directly contributed to preparing local and foreign engineers, technicians, and operators to meet international standards in the oil and gas industry.

    In his academic role at Takoradi Technical University, he has trained countless students in Mechanical Design, AutoCAD, Engineering Drawing, Strength of Materials, Vehicle Technology, and Refrigeration Engineering, ensuring that graduates are industry-ready. His dual role as an academic and an oil & gas trainer has positioned him as a bridge between academia and industry.
